Ceramic Window Film
Premium · $10-15/sq ft installed

The best film money can buy.

Ceramic film delivers maximum heat rejection and optical clarity without any metal content.

Overview

Ceramic window film uses nano-ceramic particles embedded in the film matrix to block infrared heat and UV radiation without metal. It is the highest-performing film type available: maximum heat rejection, no signal interference, no mirror appearance, and the best optical clarity of any solar film.

How it works

Ceramic films embed nano-sized ceramic particles throughout the film layers. These particles absorb and reflect infrared radiation with exceptional efficiency while remaining transparent to visible light. Unlike metal films, ceramic particles do not interfere with cell phone, GPS, or Wi-Fi signals and do not develop a reflective metallic appearance.

Best for
  • High-end residential installations where aesthetics matter as much as performance
  • Properties with electronics-intensive rooms: home theaters, home offices, smart-home systems
  • South- and west-facing exposures with heavy heat load
  • Buyers who want the longest product lifespan and broadest warranty coverage
Trade-offs
  • Higher installed cost ($10-15 per sq ft) than metalized or dyed options
  • Incremental performance improvement over premium metalized film may not justify cost for low-heat applications
Questions

Frequently asked

Is ceramic film worth the extra cost over metalized film?
For south- and west-facing exposures with heavy solar load, ceramic film delivers noticeably better heat rejection and maintains optical clarity better over time. For north-facing or low-heat windows, metalized film often performs identically at lower cost. We help you identify which windows warrant the premium.
Does ceramic film block cell phone and GPS signals?
No. Ceramic film contains no metal and does not interfere with cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, or radio signals. This is a significant advantage over metalized films for connected homes and commercial buildings.
How long does ceramic film last?
Premium ceramic film lasts 15-20+ years with proper care. SolarGard ceramic films carry a limited lifetime residential warranty.
Can I see the ceramic film on my windows?
At 70% visible light transmission, ceramic film is nearly invisible. Even darker ceramic films maintain better optical clarity than equivalent dyed or low-quality metalized films.
