UV protection
UV protection

UV rays fade everything you own.

SolarGard window film blocks 99% of UV radiation without changing the appearance of your windows.

The problem

Ultraviolet radiation passes through standard clear glass and causes irreversible fading to hardwood floors, upholstery, artwork, rugs, and window treatments. UV exposure also damages skin, even through glass indoors.

The solution

Every SolarGard film blocks 99% or more of UV-A and UV-B radiation regardless of the film type or shade. Even a nearly clear film provides the same UV protection as a darker one. The investment pays for itself many times over in preserved furnishings.

What you get

Benefits

99%+ UV blockage on all films

Every SolarGard film blocks over 99% of UV radiation, including clear and light-tinted films. UV protection is not dependent on how dark the film is.

Preserves hardwood floors

Hardwood and engineered floors fade and discolor within years under direct UV exposure. Film extends their lifespan significantly.

Protects furniture and fabrics

Upholstery, rugs, drapery, and window treatments fade at different rates. UV film slows all of them.

Protects artwork and collectibles

Paintings, photographs, and collectibles near windows are highly vulnerable. Film is far less expensive than restoration.

Skin protection indoors

UV radiation causes skin damage even through windows. Film reduces UV exposure for occupants who spend time near glass.

No visible change to the window

A clear UV-blocking film looks identical to uncoated glass. Neighbors and HOAs will not notice.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does window film stop 100% of UV rays?
SolarGard films block 99% or more of UV-A and UV-B radiation. No film blocks 100%, but 99%+ is sufficient to dramatically slow fading compared to bare glass.
Do I need a dark film to get UV protection?
No. UV protection is built into the film chemistry, not its tint level. A nearly clear film at 70% visible light transmission provides the same UV blockage as a dark 20% VT film.
Will window film prevent fading completely?
Film eliminates UV-caused fading, which accounts for roughly 40% of total fading. The remaining causes are visible light and heat. Film reduces all three, but some fading from visible light will still occur over time in direct sunlight.
How much does UV protection film cost?
Installed cost runs $5-15 per square foot depending on film type. A basic clear UV-blocking film is at the lower end of that range. Most 10-15 window homes cost $500-1,500 installed.
